Singer, interdisciplinary artist, and Senior Lecturer in Vocal Performance, Interpretation, and Performance Studies Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance
May Leshman is a distinctive voice in the Israeli art music scene, working at the intersection of classical vocal performance, Israeli art song, and interdisciplinary creation. Her artistic work combines musical depth with a strong stage presence and a refined interpretative approach, reflecting a contemporary and personal vision of vocal performance.
She serves as a Senior Lecturer at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and previously headed the Multidisciplinary Vocal Department. Her pedagogical work focuses on vocal technique, interpretation, and
performance, with an emphasis on developing artistic identity and stage presence among young singers.
As a performing and creating artist, Leshman appears regularly on major stages in Israel and internationally. Her original album “Wing to Wing” (2021) has been performed ברחבי הארץ, and she takes part in leading festivals, conferences, and artistic collaborations. Her projects often integrate music, text, and theatrical elements, in collaboration with prominent Israeli artists.
She has performed as a soloist with leading orchestras, including the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Haifa Symphony Orchestra, and the Israel Chamber Orchestra, and has appeared in recitals and concerts
across Europe.
Leshman holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from Tel Aviv University and continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London on a merit-based scholarship.
